Initial location of the car before we started getting it underway. The car was a 1963 Rambler that had been there for a long time. One of the rangers (Charlie Rowe) actually cut the car in half with hand tools in order to allow for it to be manageable in getting out. The section with the power train was still just about too much to handle. We wound up having to use a block and tackle system in order to manage getting it to budge.

Car loaded on a trailer that was connected to a fore cart pulled by a pair of belgian draft horses on the second day of the effort. The mules got the car to a level spot at the top of the hill and the belgians took over from there moving the car on out to the road where it could be loaded on a truck for it final destination in the scrap yard.

Depicting slow progress of pulling the car to the top of the hill where the car could be better managed on a trailer. The first day of pulling was done by a pair of mules that are used in logging down in Tenn. all the time. This pair of mules was able to pull so hard that the ropes we were using could have actually been strummed like a banjo. The pullies in the block and tackle actually failed from the stress being applied to them. It was truly amazing to watch these animals work together so hard as a team.
