Eagles Nest trail boss Dennis Blackburn has scheduled an Eagles Nest winter work day. This is a ride-and-work and walk-and-work event. So bring your horses if you want. The primary focus will be to use limb loppers and some chainsaw work to clear the trails. Please meet at the lake pavilion at 9:00am for further instructions. In the event of bad weather, the alternate date for this work day is the following Saturday January 23, 2010. Fort Harrod BCH has arranged for Equine Dentist Jon Jazdzewski of Paris, KY, and Dr. LeMayne Ellis, DVM, Harrodsburg, KY to be on-site to perform teeth floating and Coggins/annual vaccinations services. If you are interested in these services for your horse offered at the Big Red Stables, please contact Essie Rogers, rogers1822@roadrunner.com, 859-806-6368, to set up an appointment. Cynnie Bates (providencecsb@gmail.com) is also assisting Essie with scheduling. We would like to get a head count for the veterinarian and dentist who are offering these services and make sure that not everyone arrives at once, particularly for those who want teeth floating services. Teeth floating takes some time and persons with appointments will be given first preference for the teeth floating services.
The costs for vaccinations/Coggins at this clinic are as follows:
Combo West Nile/East Nile, Tetanus, Flu - $28, Rabies - $10, Coggins/health papers - $25, Teeth floating - $50

White Sulphur Horse Camp
The Kentucky Horse Council and the Central Kentucky BCH is hosting a work day at the White Sulphur Horse Camp on May 8th. We will be hardening the Hi-Tie Areas and doing some other routine maintenance. This will be a good time to show your support to the Daniel Boone National Forest. Remember we need to give a little to receive in kind, so please plan on attending. Work will start at 9:00am. Bring a good pair of gloves and boots. Please no sandals or open toed shoes. | Trail Ride and Lunch and Learn

The Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen (Ft. Harrod BCH) is pleased to announce a trail ride and lunch and learn on August 14, 2010 at Eagle’s Nest Equestrian Trails. The free event features lunchtime instruction, provided by Dr. William Hess of Woodford Equine Hospital, on equine emergency care and management.
Riders may convene at 9 a.m. for a morning trail ride at the Eagle’s Nest shelter house. Participants need to bring their own mount, tack, and equipment; horses will not be provided.
Following the morning ride, Hess and other associates from Woodford Equine Hospital, will present a lecture on assessing and managing equine injuries. Attendees will have the opportunity, under the tutelage of a licensed veterinarian, to practice bandaging and wound care skills with live horses.

Murder Branch Trail
We are going to clear obstacles on the Murder Branch trail on south east end of the lake outside Frenchburg. Need to check to see if rte 1274 is open out of Frenchburg. If not follow detour signs and add 45 minutes time allowed. This will be with horses and pack equipment for tools.
